DTF Transfer Size Chart
Find a starting width for your next print. Check the image at that size, then bring it into your gang sheet.
Every row below describes width, not the longest edge. Height follows your artwork’s proportions. Suggested heights are guidance, not hard limits.
Print shops publish different recommendations. For example, DTF Transfers Now lists adult S front width at 9–9.5 in; Upload DTF groups adult S–L at 10 in. Measure your garment and confirm with your chosen shop.
Measure the usable garment panel too.

No reference rows match this combination. Measure your garment and enter your own width below.
Each row retains its own source. We do not average different shops’ recommendations. Clothing fit, seams, pockets and artwork shape change the usable area. The PDF is a reference table, not a calibrated placement ruler.
Will your image
hold up at this size?
Use the original pixel dimensions. A file’s “300 DPI” label alone cannot tell you whether it has enough detail at the size you want.
Example: 1,200 × 600 pixels at 10 × 5 in is 120 PPI. The same pixels at 4 × 2 in give 300 PPI.
This checker uses the full PNG canvas, including transparent padding. In the builder, trimming is an explicit option; it recalculates height and PPI for the cropped visible pixels.
Check your artwork
Start with a printed width. Choose a chart row above for guidance.
Optional. Your file stays on this device.
Optional: compare with your usable garment area
Uploaded PNGs can move to the builder using temporary on-device storage. Without a PNG, this carries the width only. You can still change it there.
How many copies fit across a roll?
Roll width, side margins and gaps describe the print shop’s sheet, not the garment. This counts identical, unrotated copies in one row. It does not calculate price or a complete mixed layout.
Columns = floor((roll width − left margin − right margin + gap) / (design width + gap)). Enter your shop’s specifications.
A few useful answers.
Should all shirt sizes use the same print width?
A consistent width may work for a small batch, but garment fit and usable panels vary. Use this chart as a reference, measure the smallest garment, and consider separate artwork sizes where needed.
Is the suggested height a maximum printable height?
No. The source’s suggested height is a reference. Keep the image proportional and compare its calculated height against the actual panel, seams and pocket positions.
Why do print shops give different sizes?
They may group garment sizes differently, use different blanks or describe width versus the longest edge. This page labels the measurement and keeps each row’s source visible.
Can I print the chart for free?
Yes. The PDF and browser print view are open downloads. They are reference tables, not life-size rulers or universal supplier specifications.
